Light: bright, indirect light; tolerates some lower light with slower, paler growth. Avoid direct sun. Water: keep soil consistently moist but never soggy, water when the top inch feels dry -- roughly every 4-6 days as PH's heat speeds this up. Soil: well-draining potting soil; pot must have drainage holes. Humidity: enjoys humidity -- PH's ambient levels are ideal outdoors. Feeding: diluted all-purpose fertiliser monthly, rainy season only. Common issues: yellowing fronds = overwatering, too much direct sun, or (rarely here) low humidity. Toxic to pets, especially the berries.

Port Harcourt / Nigeria climate note: hot year-round (approx. 25-34C) with high humidity (avg ~71%, rising to 80-88% in the rainy season, May-Oct). This generally means less need for artificial humidity for humidity-loving plants when kept outdoors, faster soil drying in heat for well-drained pots, and a real risk of overwatering/root rot for drought-tolerant plants if exposed to heavy seasonal rain without good drainage.
