Light: tolerates low light; best leaf colour and growth in bright indirect light. Avoid harsh direct midday sun. Water: let soil dry out fully between waterings -- every 2-3 weeks locally (PH's heat dries pots faster than temperate guides suggest). Soil: well-draining, gritty mix; drainage holes essential given heavy rains. Humidity: PH's ambient humidity is more than sufficient; no extra humidity needed. Feeding: balanced fertiliser once a month, rainy season only. Common issues: mushy, yellowing base = overwatering/rot, the main risk during the long rainy season if left uncovered.

Port Harcourt / Nigeria climate note: hot year-round (approx. 25-34C) with high humidity (avg ~71%, rising to 80-88% in the rainy season, May-Oct). This generally means less need for artificial humidity for humidity-loving plants when kept outdoors, faster soil drying in heat for well-drained pots, and a real risk of overwatering/root rot for drought-tolerant plants if exposed to heavy seasonal rain without good drainage.
